Canyon River Hat and Scarf Patterns

Canyon River Hat and Scarf Patterns

Postby jeanine76 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 2:47 am

Dear all,

I an having trouble when crocheting the edgewater cable hat. I looked at the replies but did not find a clear answer on the discussion on LRC. I have followed the instructions carefully but the hat I crochet so far does not resemble the picture at all. I have to start over I'm afraid. Can you please advise me?

Kind regards, Jeanine

I haven't made that hat. But are you clear on the instructions of the stitches? What do you think went wrong for starters. Hopefully someone will pop up who tested the hat who can see what went wrong.

Hi Jeannie,

I am not sure exactly what is amiss, but it does seem like something is.

I am going to post the LRC definition here for others too for reference.

LRC (Large Rope Cable): Uses posts of next 4 sts indicated: Sk next 3 post sts, fptr around next post st, working over fpdc just made, fptr around first skipped post st, fptr around 2nd skipped post st, fptr around 3rd skipped post st.

When you go to make your cable, you are skipping the first fpdc, right?

For example, let's say we have 4 post sts in a row. From Left to right let's label them A B C D.

So as you are crochet across, you will come upon D First. We will skip this one since it is first. If you can, place a scrap yarn or safety pin around post of D so we know where it is. Next, you make an fptr around C, then you make an fptr around B, then you make an fptr around A. So now you have 3 fptr sts in a row. Now we need to make an fptr around D. Now D is going to be buried. But you can sort of dig it out with your hook, look for the scrap yarn or safety pin. Once you have it dug out, you work an fptr around that.

Let me know how this goes or if this makes sense?

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it did not help much :(
The thing is when skipping D and going over to FPTR C B and A, I do not have to dig D out in order to FPTR around it.. Is there something else I can try?

Thank you very much for helping me out.
Kind regards, Jeanine

No worries. Let me see what i can do about getting some photos or pictorials to help. This is something I have been wanting to do anyway and I think it may help :) In the time being if anyone else can chime in that would be great- maybe a different perspective.

Dear Lisa, that would be very helpful indeed! Spring is already on its way and this hat is not taking shape..yet. Hopefully I can succeed with a little help from you or other experienced crocheters.

Have a nice sun(ny) day,

Jeanine
