Mountain Lodge Scarf - question about instructions

Mountain Lodge Scarf - question about instructions

Postby shanawoodman » Wed Dec 09, 2009 1:20 pm

I recently bought the Rugged Mountain Scarf set, and had a question about the instructions for the Mountain Lodge scarf pattern.

On page 21 of the PDF file, Row 13, the instructions say:

Ch 1, turn; sc in first sc, mini-cable using next 2 fpdc, sc in next sc, *fpdc around next pfdc, sk next 2 dc, fptr around next Ldc, sc in second skipped sc, sc in top of next fpdc

There isn't anything about an Ldc in the previous row, and as far as I can tell the only Ldc's are in the very beginning. Am I missing something, or is this a typo? I'm assuming typo based on the location of it, but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks, Shana

Hi Shana--

Sorry that you are having problems with the pattern. It looks like there is a Lfpdc in Row 11 and Row 12 (which is a repeat of Row 11), and I think that is the Ldc that is referred to.

Row 11: Ch 1, turn; sc in first sc, **fpdc arund each post of next mini-cable, sc in next sc**, *fpdc around post of next fpdc, sc in next 2 sc, work one Lfpdc around posts of next 2 fptr tog, sc in next 2 sc, fpdc around post of next fpdc* fpdc around each post of next cable, rep from * to * once, sc in next sc, rep from ** to ** once.

The Ldc should probably read Lfpdc instead. Hope that helps! :D

I think that makes more sense :)

I'm struggling a bit with the pattern overall, the idea of the pockets was escaping me until I found a video for the LDC. That helped as I was doing it wrong :) But it's still a bit much for me, so I think I'll try one of the simpler patterns for the scarf. It's my favorite for the hat patterns though :D

I find that it is easier if I go slowly and check off each step as I do it so as not to get confused in the middle of a row. Once you get the hang of them, cables are a lot of fun and make amazing looking garments.

Let us know if you need help anywhere else, we are always glad to assist any way we can. :D
