midsummers night shawl by lisa naskrent

I have what may be a question that has an obvious answer. Is the shawl done with 3 strands from the 3 hanks or is it done with just one ](1) strand[/u].
Any help is appreciated

It does not state in the instructions to hold three strands together. So I figure it must be one strand. I have only tested somewhat one shawl of Lisa's and we used only one strand.

It only uses one strand at a time.
