I was wondering if this pattern is adjustable for a preemie size?

Would using a smaller hook possibly make it preemie size? The lady I'm making it for, they're thinking her granddaughter will be about 4.5 pounds when she's born and she really likes this gown so I want to try to make it as close as I can to fit.

Hi Casey!

It will be really hard to say whether it will work, because it will depend on your gauge and tension. But also, the yoke may turn out to be too long, as well since it will be much more difficult to adjust that. Some newborns are about 6 lbs, but at that age, even 1 pound increases the size quite a bit. I do have the Tiny Blossoms Christening gown, and that has 2 sizes for preemies. I wish I could be of more help, but I would hate to say yes it will work, and it not. I hope this helps some!

casey,

i would get gauge as written and then maybe go down 1 hook size - ie - if you get gauge with a size 7 then try making it with a size 8 but cant guarantee it would fit, sorry cant be of more help

Thank you both so much! If I can't figure how to get it smaller I'll just make it in newborn.
