I am just finishing up Maia Shawl. I just finished row 13 of the edging. The 14th row puzzles me. I am suppose to (ch4lp in each of next 5 ch-2 sps), but the previous row's instructions leave only 4 spaces after doing (ch 2, trcl 5 times) in the next ch-4 sp. Am I reading the pattern wrong. I sure could use some help. I can't wait to block the shawl to see the final product.

Thanks for any help.

Barb :D

What version of the pattern are you working from?

For row 13.....it should be (trcl, [ch2, trcl] 5 times)

This creates 5 ch-2 sps for use in row 14. version 1K is the most up to date pattern.

Nadine,

Am I suppose to trcl ch2, trcl once and then 5 times? I read the pattern to mean trcl, ch2, trcl 5 times which only makes 4 ch2 spaces.

If you break it down the way Nadine has it written (I don't have this pattern) you would do the following:
trcl,ch2,trcl,ch2,trcl,ch2,trcl,ch2,trcl,ch2,trcl

the ( ) shows the total of what you do in the stitch or space. the [ ] with a number of times after it shows that you do what is in the [ ] a specific number of times.
