I am working on this sweet little dress as a gift, and the baby is due the first week of June, so time is precious. I have started the bodice of the dress twice, and for some reason, it isn't coming together. It seems like the back and shoulder straps are not working out for me.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure where you are having your problem, but I'll try to help. The front panel is made first. You will fasten off when you complete this panel. Then the next two halves (LB-left back and RB-right back) are attached to the two spaces that you marked when you completed Row 1 of the front panel. The back is split into two sections (where buttons will be attached later). The front and back panels will all be joined together in the section that states: Joining Panels.

When starting the LB (and RB), attach your yarn with a sl st into the space (sc, ch 2, sc) rather than the free loop to make a much smoother looking join. Then continue with the pattern. The beginning rows of the LB and the RB will be making the straps. If you look at the picture that shows the bodice under the "Joining Panels" you will see how it is supposed to look.

If you have any other questions or if this isn't what you are having problems with, just let us know, and we will try to help.
