This pattern calls for G/6 (4.25mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge - For dress
Size 4 (2.0mm) steel hook for butterfly appliques

The gauge is 19 sc and 24 rows in sc = 4"

I assume the gauge is meant for the dress and crochet hook size G/6 (4.25mm). However, size G makes the sample too big. I know I am suppose to change hook size to get gauge, but this seems way off to me.

Can you verify that I am suppose to be using Size G/6 for the dress?

Hi, Lisa! The G hook is the one suggested for the dress along with the 19 sc and 24 rows in sc= 4", but feel free to use a smaller hook if the gauge swatch is measuring too big. I usually need to go down to an F.
