I love this pattern but would need to know if it can be made with any of the Aunt Lydia yarns/threads that are readily available here in the US craft stores?

Yes, you can make it with other threads, but the beauty comes from using a lace weight yarn like knit picks merino lace weight or something comparable and then wet blocking the shawl to gently stretch it into shape, that opens the spaces in the stitches to make them show the design more. Its a beautiful shawl. Enjoy crocheting it and post us a photo when you get finished. We'd love to see it. :D
