The pattern goes on and says "until dress measures 10.5 inches from top of panels." - what does this mean (stupid question, I know, but I am new at this ) Is that the top of the bodice part? Not counting the shoulder straps?

Not a stupid question at all. Yes, it means from the top of the panels not counting the shoulder straps just as you thought. I love this dress, it is one of my favorites and my dgd's too. They always get compliments when they wear it.

Thanks a lot! I actually started thinking that it was the top of the shell-pattern, so that is good that I got that cleared out so I didn't end up making it too long. I see the dress in your profile pic, it looks so nice. Cute colors! (another question, what is "dgd"? )

I will definitely show a pic of the result when I am done. I will be starting the ruffled part in a bit... I hope the result turns out great. I am a little "worried" I chose too pale colors for my personal taste... but we will see. Once the flowers are made I am sure it will look quite different.

When we tested this there wasn't a color combo that didnt look great!! It is a great dress... cant wait to see yours
