Hi, I am new here, but I am working on this pattern, the Charlotte Belle dress and after working the Round 1 of the Body, I have about 24 extra dbl-smk stitches, can't see where I am going wrong. Any ideas? Lisa?

Hi barbc-

Sorry that you are having troubles with the pattern. You didn't say what size you were doing, but I don't think it matters. My guess is that you are not skipping a stitch after completing the dbl-smk. Let us know if that doesn't fix the problem. :D

I do think I am skipping a stitch, that is, there is the empty double loop () and then I sc in the next one. Guess I am probably going to start ripping back, hate to do it, that smk row took a while. I had the right # of stitches after the eyelet row and the row after that. Seems all correct except for too many SMK stitches. My work looks exactly like the photos of the smk stitch with the one skipped stitch in between.

Once you get used to doing the solomon's knot or love knot, they move along pretty quickly. What size are you doing and how many stitches are you supposed to have before starting Rnd 1 of the body?

Carolyn, I am doing the 18 month size. I have ripped out back to the Eyelet round and reworked rounds 3 and 4. I think I may have been doing a Ch 1 between each 2sc in round 3 which would explain the extra stitch for every 2 or about 25 extra. I am beginning the Body now with 100 stitches. Hope I have figured it out. Thanks for your help, I may be back if this doesn't work out. I love to crochet and can usually figure out the stitches, but the patterns defy me.

I'm glad that you were able to figure it out. I have subscribed to this topic, so if you have other issues, I'll be able to get back to you quickly. Can't wait to see how your dress turns out. It is one of my favorite patterns of Lisa's.
