Stitches

  • Sc: insert hook into st indicated and pull up a loop, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook
  • Dc: Yo, insert hook into st indicated, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice
  • Beg-loop: sl st in sp indicated, (ch 1, sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp; always counts as first loop.
  • Loop: (sc, ch 3, sc) in st indicated
  • Dbl-loop: (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc) in st indicated
  • Trp-loop: (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc) in st indicated
  • Sc-combo: (insert hook from front to back of next loop (hole of loop), SKIP THE NEXT 2 LOOPS, then back to front of next loop (hole of loop), yo, and draw through both loop holes, yo and draw through 2 loops on hook)
  • Dc-combo: yo, insert hook into next ch-4 sp, then bring hook from back to front of next ch-4 sp, yo and draw loop through both loop holes so there are 3 loops on hook. (Yo, draw through 2 loops) twice)

Gauge

  • Ch 26 (or 26 + multiples of 3 for larger swatch)
    Rnd 1:
Sc in 5th ch from hook, sk 2 ch, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch (loop completed), *sk 2 ch, loop in next ch. Rep from * across. || 8 loops ||
  • Rnd 2-10: Turn; sl st in 1st loop, ch 1, loop in same loop and in each loop across.
    || 8 small-loops ||
  • Stitch Gauge: 6 loops = 2 inches
    Row Gauge: 5 rows = 1 inch
Note: It is better to obtain stitch gauge than row gauge since lengths are achieved with tape measure.

Do NOT turn throughout pattern unless instructed to do so.

With MC and size 6 hook or hook to obtain gauge, ch 4, sl st in 3rd ch from hook to form ring.

Rep around until last loop, dbl-loop in last loop; join with sl st to first sc of first loop. [23 loops]

Rnd 7: Rep Rnd 5. [23 loops].

Rnd 9-10: Rep Rnd 5. [34 loops].

Rnd 11:Beg-loop in next loop, loop in next loop, dbl-loop in next loop, *loop in next 2 loops, dbl-loop in next loop. Rep from * around until last loop, loop in last loop; join with sl st to first sc of first loop. [45 loops].

Rnd 36: Sl st in ch-4 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 4, sc) in each ch-4 sp and ch-2 sp around; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnd 37: Ch 1, (sc, ch 4 sc) in same sp and each ch-4 sp around; join with sl st to first sc. Mark any loop in this Rnd for trim placement.

Rnd 38: Ch 1, (sc, ch 4 sc) in same sp and each ch-4 sp around; join with sl st to first sc.

Rnds 1- 38 measure approximately 5 inches for me. Remember the ruffle part will hang down too.

Weave ribbon through row 26 ch-3 sp's.

Trim:

With right side facing and CC (size 30 thread) and size 10 hook, bend Rnd 38 TOWARD you so that Rnd 37 is visible. Work edging entirely in Rnd 37. Attach thread to any ch-4 sp in Rnd 37.
