Question About the first three rows of the Front Panel

Question About the first three rows of the Front Panel

Postby Aelita » Thu Mar 20, 2014 6:33 pm

Okay first off I'm doing two different sizes which is sizes 9/10 for my soon to be 11 yr. old god daughter who looks to be about 8 or 9, and the size 14 for my 13 yr old god daughter who I hope will be able to fit this size seeing as she has grown in the hip and chest area. Anywho for row 1 on these two sizes for size 9/10 it says to ch. 32 and size 14 ch. 36. Then it goes on to say 'sc in the 2nd ch from hook and each sc across, mark this as RS, turn' then it has that size 9/10 should have 35sc and size 14 should have 37sc. I did and redid this row and I found that count to be incorrect. To get 35sc for size 9/10 and 37sc for size 14, you would actually have to chain 36 for the 9/10 and 38 for the 14. Row 2 I actually have no problems with once I redid the chains in the beginning of row 1. Now row 3 it says to 'bring ch 1 up to height of a dc' does that simply mean to pull the yarn up to the height I would get if I worked a dc there?

Hello Aelita!

Wow, it looks like in this first row, the last size (14) was left off on the st counts. Thus, this should be added (in blue). The 3T size should have 27 for a st count, not 25, and that is (corrected in blue). Adding in the size 14 should now make the size 9/10 right. The size 9/10 you chain 32, and have a st count of 31. So this should work as written.

INCORRECT
Row 1: Ch 22 (24, 26) |♥| 26 (28, 28, 30) |♥| 30 (32, 36), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, mark this as RS, turn––21 (23, 25) |♥| 25 (25, 27, 29) |♥| 29 (31, 35, 37) sc

CORRECTED
Row 1: Ch 22 (24, 26) |♥| 26 (28, 28, 30) |♥| 30 (32, 36), sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, mark this as RS, turn––21 (23, 25) |♥| 25 (27, 27, 29) |♥| 29 (31, 35, 37, 38) sc

I am so sorry for these errors. I am so surprised this pattern has been release so long, and you are the first to bring this up. THANK you so much Aelita! Again, I am very sorry for these issues! Please let me know how everything is with these corrections :)

PS, the 14 yr old should fit fine. When you get the the waist, there are notes for making the ribbon band lower, in case she is developing. If she is in a training bra, this dropped ribbon row will be more comfortable on her.

Wow thanks for the fast reply. I just realized I was wrong on my part about the size 9/10. I forgot there was a size 12 in between them lol. You're very welcome about me noticing the error in size 14. Maybe no one is making that size but me lol. If I wasn't making the size 14 I wouldn't have noticed it at all. So far everything is just fine it was just that part that had me confused. I will definitely have to do the drop ribbon row for the size 14 because she is developing up there.
