(--)Question about the chain extension in front panels

In version 6, when the instructions state to ch 7 at the beginning of row 5 of Panel 1 (front panel), are those additional stitches forming the front of the cardigan (where the buttons will go) or are they forming the armhole?

ETA: You can ignore this. I figured it out. The chain extensions are for the front of the cardigan, not the armhole.
