counts and major confusion

I am trying do the kerchief for this dress after you do the 113 sc when you start the mesh the stitch count is 34 ch 1 sps I am getting way more than that and when I do the math it ends up being more so not sure on that

And then on row 2 on the mesh it says ch 1 sk next sc all we have are dc and ch 1 sps

Please if someone can help I would appreciate it

The mesh does not go all the way around the kerchief. For the st count 113 sc, the mesh begins with [ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc] 35(37, 39) times, so there are only 34 ch1 sps on this row. On the first row of mesh, it only covers a little more than half of the band, then works back and forth, decreasing the edges/sides as it goes till it is a point.

Lisa will have to verify this, but it should be

Brenda, which version are you working from? I believe Ver 1G is the latest version of this pattern. Heart was correct in that the mesh does not go all the way around.

If you look at the instructions, the first two Rnds use sc to encase the elastic. You should have 113 sc after Rnd 2. Now when you start the Mesh, you will be working in Rows.

Mesh:
Row 1: Ch 4 (counts as a dc and ch-1), sk next sc, dc in next sc, [ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc] 35 (37, 39) times, leave rem sc unworked, turn--36 (38, 40) ch-1 sps.

This will also give you 37 dc.

For Row 2 of the mesh it does not mention working into a sc in this version so I believe it must have been corrected.

Thank you I got it to work

And as for the version I am not sure I will have to look but I just bought it maybe 3 weeks ago at the most
