I want to make a size 18 -24 mo. I chain 27 for the front panel, after rows 3-12 I end up with a piece about 3 in. high and 6 in. long after making the back panel I join panels with sc around. Problem is I have this very tiny circle that isn't big enough around for much more than a 3 mo old. I get the eyelet done and I only have 25 each of the ch-2 sp and cl. not the 50 I need. rnd 3,( 2 sc in each ch-2 space) I only have 50 not 100. What am I doing wrong. I have attempted it three times with same results.

Hi Alice-

I'll try to help. :D

It sort of sounds like you may have only made one panel. You make the front panel and fasten off after completing it. Then you will make the back panel the same way except, do not fasten off as you will now join the two panels.

If however, you did make two panels, then I suspect that maybe you did not do the increases in Rows 3-12. To do the increases for each row you start each row with a Ch 2, now you are going to put a sc in the second chain of that Ch 2 then continue across the row with a sc in ea sc until you get to the last sc where you will do 2 sc. Each row should increase by 2 stitches. You should end up with 50 sc at the end of the last row of each panel and a total of 100 sc after both panels are connected.

If that isn't the problem let me know and we'll figure it out.

Thank you, I will try again this weekend. I did the chain two but didn't put the sc in the chain two. I think I can do it now. I will let you know. thanks so much for your help.

It worked wonderfully. thank you so much. now if I can just get the solomons knot. I'll keep trying til I get it. I've never done that one before. I just can't get mine to look right, but I'm sure I will. thanks for you help. It is a beautiful dress.

I am so glad that it worked for you. The solomons knot just takes a little practice, but it really makes a beautiful dress. Can't wait to see a picture of it when you get it done. :D

What is nice too is that is this pattern is very forgiving when it comes to the love knots :) They do not all need to be the same size or even uniform in looks. They all end up doing their own thing and the other sts that anchor them are the foundation, the ones that give them the structure.
