It sounds like those are the stitch counts. If it is at the end of the line after a long dash, those are the counts you should have for that row. Let me know if you have any other questions

Hello,
This is my first time doing intermediate level work and I'm having some trouble understanding the pattern.
ex: turn ---17 hdc, 41 (44, 46, 49,51) ch-2 sps
My issue is with the long hyphen... the pattern is telling to turn my work and do what? Also 41 (44,46,49,51) ch-2 sps I'm a bit confused.
Thanks,
Brandi

Those are the stitch counts. If it is at the end of the line after a long dash, those are the counts you should have for that row.
You should just turn your work and continue on to the next row.
41 (44,46,49,51) ch-2 sps corresponds with the size you are making.

That is so awesome! Yes if you have any other questions, come back and let us know. Even though a lot of patterns are termed intermediate, they are very detailed. A lot of it is just understanding the pattern style
